We are pleased to present this new HalfKorean.com interview with hip hop recording artist Anthony “Akim” Kim of the independent hip hop duo the Vox Merger.
What makes him even more interesting is that he also happens to be a full time law school student.
For a somewhat new artist, Akim has been able to make tracks with some notable artists such as Far East Movement, Chan, Bambu and producer Illmind.

Rakaa Iriscience’s first music video from the upcoming Crown of Thorns was released earlier this week. “Delilah” is produced by fellow Dilated Peoples member Evidence. Check it out below.
Also this week, Decon Records has available a limited edition Crown of Thorns Deluxe Package which will include an autographed CD, t-shirt, sticker/poster pack and an immediate MP3 download of the track “Aces High” (which features Fashawn, Evidence, Defari and is produced by The Alchemist) after purchase. This is a follow-up interview to our initial interview from last year (February 2009) with the ex-member of Korean hip hop/R&B group Uptown.
We discussed a few topics including how things have been since Still Standin’ released, his new affiliation with the Jiggy Fellaz, thoughts on UPT and what is in store for him with South Cide and the future.

Carlos Galvan (카를로스) just released South Cide Volume 1 and the full “Hustle” music video last week. Here is the “Hustle” music video along with a live version of “Bounce to This” (also from South Cide) from a performance last year. South Cide Volume 1 is a compilation (mixtape) mini-album that features Carlos, Pinnacle, DJ Tom Slick and producer YK. Guest appearances include Jonathan Galvan, Big Shot & Vasco. This album is the second post-Uptown release for Carlos which follows his first solo mini-album from 2009, Still Standin’. Be on the lookout for a HalfKorean.com follow-up interview with Carlos in the next week or so.
