Carlos Galvan

Rapper/Recording Artist

Carlos Galvan (카를로스 or 이현수) is a rapper/recording artist in Korea.

He was an original member of the Korean Hip Hop/R&B group Uptown that debuted around 1997. The original Uptown group was significant as it included two mixed Koreans at a time when there were not many younger generations mixed Korean music acts (the other being singer/rapper Tasha Reid).

The group disbanded after some legal troubles in the early 2000s. In 2003, Carlos and Steve Kim (another original member of the group) re-formed as a duo and were known as Uptown3000. An album was released in July of 2003 titled Same Book Different Chapter. Initially the release was supposed to target the American market but never was given its proper release in the USA.

In 2006, Uptown reformed once again with Carlos, Steve and Chris (all three were original members) along with a new female member, Jessica H.O. In May of 2006, the album Testimony was released.

On January 30, 2009, Carlos released his first solo mini-album, Still Standin’.

Later in 2009, Carlos became affiliated with the Jiggy Fellaz (Korean hip hop group).

In June 2010 he released a compilation/mix mini-album, South Cide Vol.1.
