Hello, mrs. Strickland. It is an honor to be able to e-mail you. I can’t even beleive I am. Now let’s cut to the chase. I know your a very busy person and all, and you probably wont even be able to read this but I am a concerned citizen. My name is Celia facinelli I am 13 years old and I live in Puyallup, WA. And one thing you should know about me is that I L-O-V-E animals. And today me, and my family went to the point defiance zoo in Tacoma. And I was almost horiffied at what I saw. First, there was a poor little monkey and it looked like he hadn’t eaten for a while. And the reason I think this is because, when I went to look at the monkeys and monkeys are one of my MANY favorite animals right when I saw him I felt so bad for him he was sitting at the fence reaching through the holes of it and grabbing grass and the section he was grabbing was almost to the point where there was barely any grass there anymore for him to eat. Another thing I saw is they have poor living conditions for some of the animals. The goats barely had any room to roam as well with the Polar bears. And there asian elephants were so hungry that when one used the restroom the other one came over and ate his “leavings” which I thought was kind of gross. And oh this one almost broke my heart. One of the most beautiful creatures you will ever see is an owl I think they are just amazing!!!! And oh when I saw him… He was in the smallest little area to be in ever! It was practically a cardboard box. And right next to his sort of stall thing was a Raven all by himself in the same living conditions. And he was eating a few nasty pellets off the floor. So I don’t think the folks working down at the point defiance zoo are doing a very good job at feeding there animals or cleaning there cages. And most of the animals have barely any room to roam or fly that is. Oh and what actually broke my heart is there was a Musk Oxen and he had so many fleas that a whole patch of hair was missing from his side. And he was rubbing himself on a giant rock. I don’t know what your going to do about it but, you need to do something!!! I think you need to take evasive action and get thoses animals new good homes!!! And yes, I am serious about this!
