History

HalfKorean.com started out as nothing more than just a small collection of pictures and links of mixed Koreans in April 1997. It was then known as “The Half Korean Page” and was originally hosted on Geocities, a free server provider.

In the following years the content had included various forms of collected media from magazine, newspaper and online articles regarding mixed Koreans.

In July 1998 the first meet was held in San Francisco, California at the Korean. It was followed with a meet in Los Angeles, California in September 1998.

In April 2000, to coincide with the 3rd anniversary of the site, the domain name “HalfKorean.com” was selected and the site was moved from the free server provider to its own server.

In 2002, the first original content was created with interviews of various prominent mixed Koreans.

Unfortunately due to various circumstances, there was a time period in the mid 2000s that little updating was done but the site remained online and refused to go under.

In 2009, there was renewed dedication to the site. It included multiple interviews along with a return of having a meet with one in Los Angeles, California in October 2009.

In April 2010, to celebrate 13 years of existence, we decided to follow the current “web standard” and move the site to a WordPress-based platform.
